Old Monroe land clearing, French drains & grading where US-61 meets the Cuivre bottoms

Old Monroe sits down at the south end of Lincoln County along US-61, near where the Cuivre River runs toward the Mississippi. It's a mix of clay uplands and lower river-bottom ground, with new residential growth and plenty of rural acreage. If you've been hunting "land clearing near me" or a French drain for a yard that won't drain, that's most of my Old Monroe work. I'm Brandon Bange — I clear lots, route water, grade yards, and build drives across Old Monroe, and I come bid every job myself.

Two kinds of ground in one town

Old Monroe straddles a transition: the clay-heavy uplands that run through most of Lincoln County, and the lower Cuivre River bottom ground closer to the water. The upland clay holds a foundation but won't drain — it pools water on the surface until a grade or a drain sends it somewhere. The bottom ground holds a higher water table and stays wet longer after a rain. Which one your lot sits on changes the fix, and reading that is the first thing I do when I walk a property here.

If you're up on the US-61 side, out on acreage, or down closer to the Cuivre bottoms, I've worked both kinds of Old Monroe dirt.

New growth along the US-61 corridor

Old Monroe sits along US-61 between Moscow Mills and the St. Charles County line, and the corridor has been picking up new residential growth as the metro pushes north. New homes mean fresh, pad-graded yards that don't drain until somebody cuts the grade right — the same new-build story I see all up and down US-61, just with the added wrinkle of the Cuivre bottoms nearby.

On bottom ground, the outlet matters more: when the water table's high and the fall is shallow, a drain only works if it can reach a genuinely lower spot, and I plan the run around that. On the upland clay it's the familiar choice — a regrade where there's somewhere to send the water, a French drain where the lot's flat or the water's trapped. Driveways and pads on the softer ground need the soft material dug out and a real base built up so they hold.

Wherever you are around Old Monroe, I'll read your specific lot and tell you straight what it needs. {{NEEDS_BRANDON}} (any specific Old Monroe roads, subdivisions, or named areas Brandon wants called out).

Old Monroe dirt work questions

Old Monroe dirt work questions

Do you do dirt work in Old Monroe, MO?

Yes — Old Monroe's on my home turf at the south end of Lincoln County along US-61. I grade yards, fix drainage, build drives, and prep pads out here on both the upland clay and the lower Cuivre bottom ground.

My new-build yard in Old Monroe won't drain. What now?

Classic new-construction problem — the lot got graded to set the house, not to drain. Usually it's a regrade, a French drain, or both. I'll walk it and give you a real number.

Does being near the Cuivre River bottoms change things?

It can. The lower ground near the Cuivre holds a higher water table and drains slower than the upland clay. If you're on bottom ground, the outlet matters more — I'll read which kind of lot you've got when I walk it.

How fast can you bid an Old Monroe job?

Usually the same week, work two-to-three weeks out, weather depending. Rather call or text a photo? (573) 754-2482.
